Mean Girls
Tonight AH and I ventured to The Alamo Drafthouse to see Mean Girls. I found out it was playing last week when I was looking up times for The Help and almost peed my pants I was so excited. This movie is one of my faves and makes me remember a nicer time in the world, you know, when Lindsay Lohan was normal. I mean look at her here
and look at her now Something has gone terribly wrong. I want to reach out to her or say hey, get in touch with Britney Spear's dad. He has done some good in her life. Her last album was probably my favorite of all of her albums. Lindsay just get some help so you can get back to making amazing movies like Mean Girls.
where the wild things are
Now on to the Wild Things.
This was a personal favorite children's book growing up. I loved it. I didn't see the movie version of it because some memories are meant to be kept and not changed. I was reading some random blog and they were talking about decorating nurseries. Now I don't have a child or one on the way. I have decided years from now when I do, I want to be surprised aka I am not going to find out if I am having a boy or girl. It just occurred to me that maybe a Where the wild things are themed room would be a good gender neutral room. Like? Or is this a little to dark of a place for a wee baby to rest it's head?

The Help
I read The Help when it came out like 2 years ago. I read it in one day and loved every minute of it. I am serious about my books and usually I am disappointed in the movie version of the book which has stopped me from seeing things in the past. I hardly ever make it to the movies but tonight I went and saw The Help with AH. I am late on this comment but y'all it was seriously wonderful. Thank goodness I had a tissue in my bag because I cried during parts of it. It was wonderfully done and made me hate Bryce Dallas Howard who played Hilly.
I mean I know it's not really her but she was such a B that I think if I ran into her on the streets I would want to kick her in the shin or spit on her shoe. Everyone should go see the movie and they won't be disappointed. Needless to say my girl crush on Emma Stone has grown!

Wasabi and Soy Sauce Almonds
This here is one of my favorite new things. If Oprah was still on the air I think this would make her favorite things list. Seriously. It's the bomb.com

What do men do
I walked into work the other day with my giant purse filled with lots of treasures and then saw a guy walking in carrying nothing, I thought how does he travel with his items. Where is his day planner, where are his books, chapstick, etc. I realize having 2 books in my purse is more than most or the fact that I can probably find 6 lipglosses in my bag at any given time but seriously, men how do you travel with so little?

Thankful Thursdays
Have you ever noticed that often times people aren't very thankful? We are all very good at complaining and I am the queen of it. It's easy to get bogged down with all of the small stuff and make it into a big deal when broken up into the little pieces it really isn't that big of a deal. Again, queen of it here. I am very thankful for lots of things, people, situations etc. but sometimes don't think that take the time to really think about them. Until now. Thursdays will now be Thankful Thursdays where I will mention one thing I am thankful for that week.
For this first Thankful Thursday edition I would like to say I am thankful that my BFF is getting married. I have mentioned before she we live in different cities, different states, different time zones. This whole getting married thing is really doing wonders for our hang out time. I have gotten to see her tons more this past year with various wedding events as we ramp up for the big day in October. Next weekend is her Bachelorette party in Charleston. It's very possible when all of this is said and done I might go through withdrawals for us not being able to see each other as much. In an effort to make this a less selfish sounding of a thankful thing, this thankfulness is twofold. I am thankful that she has found such a great man to marry. I mean that is reason we are getting more hang out time. Because she met him and they fell in love and they are getting married. And I like him and he likes me and he shares my sarcastic sense of humor. I think our years of friendship has helped prepared her for a lifetime of sarcasm. Can't wait for the wedding!

thank you notes. taking it to the next level
A month or so ago I was driving to Gun Barrel City for a lake weekend with my friend KD. On the way there she called me to let me know she had a flat tire. I told her to let me know if I could do anything, which I knew I couldn't since I was currently in Waco and she somewhere outside Dallas. I show up to the lake, the tire is fixed, all is well in the world. She mentioned calling the police for help and a woman with a nice manicure showed up. I laughed and said why didn't you just call AAA. Funny girl.
Fast forward a few weeks. KD and I are chatting and she mentions she got a thank you note from the police office. I said "For what". She said it was actually a response back to her thank you note from the police chief. I said 'Wait you sent a thank you letter after they helped you with your tire" She said 'Yes". Ohhhh KD, your manners never cease to amaze me.
In a day and age where people normally complain about the police or only have negative interactions with them, I thought the police officer was probably thrilled to get a thank you note in the mail. I feel pretty sure she had never received one before and unless she helps KD again or saves a kitten from a tree, might not ever get another one again.
When was the last time you sent someone a thank you card in the mail?
