How I Met Your Mother

My DVR is very backed up and I have been watching this season of How I Met your Mother and was reminded how funny this show is and how much I love it. Seriously if you are not watching this show you must must must tune it. Neil Patrick Harris as well as the rest of the cast are hilarious. In my favorite episode I watched last night Neil Patrick Harris aka Barney was taking a break from his usual suit wearing. He was trying to hook up with the hot new female bartender but she dislikes men in suits. He brings her home to her room and she is going to the use the bathroom when she opens his closet and is confronted with all his suits. She says “Are these yours?” he responds “ No I am suit sitting for someone.” Classic and then the episode ends with him singing and dancing in the streets about suits. What more could you want? What more I wanted was Tim Gunn and yes he made a special appearance in the episode as well. It was legen…wait for it…dary.

Oh and I have a major crush on Jason Segel.

Basketball

I live in Austin Texas where UT football reigns supreme. I love me some UT football it is my favorite but I went to the University of Kansas, where basketball reigns supreme. I get really excited when basketball seasons rolls around. The main problem is that no one here really cares about college basketball. Then I met DS and she loves college basketball, too bad she goes for UT. During the NBA draft DS and I exchanged some texts
DS: Tell KU players to quite getting drafted so texas players can be picked up :0
Me: ahahaha. Tell the ut players they should have played as good at the end of the season as they did in the beginning
DS: T (aka her husband) says how are things in Northern Iowa? Lol
Me: Ohhh T that hurts. That truly hurts.

Holy Brisket Batman

Sunday aka Father’s Day I went to a BBQ place I have wanted to check out. I read about it a few weeks ago then my brother g-chatted me about it last week. I mentioned this BBQ place to my friend AH and she said her husband DH had wanted to try it as well. DH’s and I’s great minds think alike. Plans were made and we headed to Franklin’s BBQ on Sunday. Originally we were going to meet there at 11 when they opened but AH is preggers with little baby M and slept in a bit. We got there around 12:15ish and waited in line. By the time we got to the front the only meat available was brisket, so we all got the brisket and it was FRANFREAKINGTASTIC. Seriously, it will go down as some of the best brisket ever. I got a mixture of the moist and lean on my sandwich and was a happy camper. I forgot to take pictures of my sandwich before I devoured it but the owner came around and brought out little pieces of meat as we were finishing up. We were gone by a little after 1 and they were sold out for the day. You must must must try Franklin’s BBQ but get there early. It’s a small operation out of a trailer on the feeder road of I-35 but don’t let that confuse you. They mean business. I can’t wait to go back and try the ribs and sausage. I will be returning very soon!

Signature Hair Do’s

I am a pony tail person. It is my go to look because for the most part I don’t want to be bothered doing my hair. In the summer time I like to get real crazy and spice it up a bit with a braid or low side pony tail. I have perfected the art of braiding my hair. I can make it go across the front and then down in the back. I am practically a hair stylist, except for the fact that I can’t really recreate the looks on others and I can’t make the braid go from left to right. My skill set is limited to a right to left braid. I hope this doesn’t limit me in life!

Cupcake Bar

Saturday June 19th was my first real official wedding that I planned. I have helped friends in the past but this was the first time I was hired and a check was written for my services. It went great and I learned lots as well. The Cupcake Bar was there and they were delicious. Cupcakes are still all the rage but this is a slight twist on the fad. Pre-wedding or event you contact them and pick your base flavors of cupcakes, this wedding has vanilla, chocolate and red velvet. Then you pick your frosting, we had pink cream cheese, chocolate butter cream and vanilla butter cream and then your toppings. There were sprinkles, coconut, walnuts and a few others. You walk up to the cupcake bar and pick your combo. I am a classic girl so I picked vanilla with the pink cream cheese frosting. It was yummy and the kids seemed to really enjoy it as well. If money was no object in my life I would have the cupcake bar as well as photo booths at all of my events!
