Pioneer Woman Does it Again

I think I have mentioned before how I love The Pioneer Woman. I keep entering contests on her blog and keep hoping to wine. It hasn't happened yet but one day it will. Today she opened my eyes in a whole new way that made not being a contest winner okay. Y'all, she had a picture of a monkey riding a dog. Whiplash is his name and he is pretty much awesome. Thank you pioneer woman for brightening my gloomy dark and rainy day. Not complaining because we need the rain!

I've Joined the 21st Century

This weekend I got a Kindle Fire from DS and AH for Christmas/Birthday! Earlier this year they asked if I would be interested in a kindle and my answer was no. I get my books from the library and kindle books cost money. I could be it being the slippery shopping slope that itunes is. I mean that doesn't feel like you are spending money! When I found out the library was now allowing people to rent ebooks, I was ready for a kindle. I mentioned that if they were thinking about a kindle again, that I was now interested. I didn't need anything fancy, just the basic one to read one. I was shocked when I opened it and it was the fire. I didn't even know what to do I was so excited. I also didn't really know what to do because me and technology are not BFF's. I am slowly getting the hang of it which is nice. If any of my kindle owning friends want to let me borrow books off their kindle I am down. I would say you can borrow from me too but I just downloaded A Christmas Carol and Alice in Wonderland for free.

I wish I was a wizard

I am working my way thru the Harry Potter audio books. I have read all of the books but wanted to listen to the books. The reader, Jim Dale is wonderful and brings the stories to life. Currently on The Order of the Phoenix. One thing has become very clear as I listen along, I wish I was a wizard. It seems so awesome. A special wand, a sorting hat that tells you what house you are going to be in. Just very appealing at the moment. If you haven't read the Harry Potter series I highly recommend it. Or if you have a long drive coming up get the audio books to listen to.

Another Day, Another Animal Print

In keeping with my animal print topic, I thought you should know that I have been patiently waiting for this purse from J Crew to go on sale. It hasn't happened yet so I will continue to wait.

One of my dear friends in Austin, LEG, doesn't like animal print. I love it and am happy we don't allow such a serious topic and issue tear our friendship apart.

I have long wanted these Sam Edelman flats.

She tells me they look like pimp shoes. I have refrained from purchasing them. Also, they are pretty impossible to find since I am not the only one who loved these pimp shoes.

What are your thoughts, do you like animal print because I just can't seem to get enough of it, esp. in my footwear.

If I was Ryan Seacrest would I were my own company's hat? I mean it's fine if it's not named after you but a Ryan Seacrest production hat seems like overkill. I can't believe Julianne went out in public with him.

Lego Amazingness

The kid in me loves these Lego water bottles. These would be a great gift or stocking stuffer for any of your friends that grew up loving Legos!

Travel Bag

I have been carrying around my toiletries bag for about 6 years and it is from Target. I love it but it has seen better days. I would be all for buying a newer version of it but they don't seem to make one. I was reading some random blog and their suggestions for holiday gifts today and came across this beauty from Stephanie Johnson. I have no idea who Stephanie is but I like her style. Alas I won't be purchasing this. Please see previous budget post as to reason why. But if any of my readers need a kick ass bag, I will be very jealous if you make this yours!

Airline Travel

Yes Victoria Beckham, I also wear this same outfit when traveling. Nothing says comfort like a tight dress and high boots.

Holiday Decorations

I don't think I'll be decorating my little abode for the holiday season. If I was going to this wreath would be the perfect entrance to a winter wonderland.

A budget

Thursday I started something called a budget. I am sure some of you have heard of this crazy thing. Something had to change. After a not fun convo with my mother about money that ended in me crying I put my thinking cap on. Here is a crazy idea: I am going to use cash. I really should write a book with this killer never been considered idea. I have $100 a week to use for food, fun, groceries etc. Sorry friends if you wanted to hang out and do something expensive. I have seriously planned out my weeks with allotments of money for things on my schedule. Friends I am having lunch or a meal with, fear not I already budgeted you in for that week. Otherwise I am being cheap so who wants to meet for coffee or frozen yogurt?? It's really not very fun having to do this but it's necessary. I am almost 29 yrs old and must get serious about my finances. I was talking about this with my BFF on Wednesday night. I said one week I am seeing Beauty and the Beast, the musical and between the ticket price and drinks before it was half my budget. I also said I guess when you are poor you don't see the arts and she said yeah, you are probably right. This made me very sad. I love the arts. I will just eat ramen to go to the arts.

Also, if you hear of me selling my bone marrow, plasma, or eggs, please stop me. But really how much do eggs go for??

Just Say No

The sighting

This is my first foray into the blog world, but since I am a devoted follower of Anchors and Argyle, I jumped at the chance. Also, this blog is about Ryan Gosling-clearly not hard to write about…

As everyone is well aware by now, Ryan Gosling is not the ‘Sexiest Man Alive.’ Well, at least not to People Magazine. I’ve lost faith in them. This is all an introduction to my story of seeing Ryan himself IN THE FLESH! We are on a first name basis after the sighting. My best friend, Christine, got married in Austin the same weekend as Fun Fun Fun fest. Little did we know that Ryan Gosling (oh yea, and Roony Mara) were filming there for their upcoming movie. So, imagine our surprise when he walked in to Hangar Lounge after the Rehearsal Dinner. My heart stopped. Not only am I obsessed with reading US Weekly and following the lives of celebrities, but Ryan Gosling is gorgeous! Most of the girls ran and chased him upstairs. On the way up the stairs, he passed within an inch of me. Unfortunately, he couldn’t take pictures because they were filming. But, he kindly mentioned he would have. So not only is he more gorgeous and taller in person, but he’s kind too. So girls, rest assured that your crushes on Ryan are legit. And if I can’t have him, I hope Rachel McAdams gets him back someday.

My friend HB share this lovely link with me. Ryan Gosling is a hottie, no question about it. I want to rub my fingers thru his hair and across his abs..too much? I just saw Crazy Stupid Love last weekend and was swooning the whole time. His accent the hair, he took his shirt off, the list goes on and on. Not to mention he was going after my 2011 lady crush, Emma Stone. I never would have imagined he would have come this far from his Mickey Mouse Club days. He is wayyyyy cuter than Justin Timberlake. Oh and he is Canadian. I think I like this Canadian better than the Biebs. Lo siento Justin!

Oh Sandra why did you ever break up with him? So much of a better choice than Jesse James. And Rachel McAdams, same question. They would have made a baby with beautiful hair.

According to picture 62, he drinks Diet Snapple. I also love Diet Snapple, so I am lead to believe we are a match made in heaven. My friend A told me she saw him when he was in town a few weeks ago. Letting you in on a secret

Readers, I am about to let you in on a secret I have discovered. It's pretty amazing and I hope you are sitting down for this.

Aquaphor is one of the greatest inventions ever. The weather has been all over the place here in the ATX. I am talking cold front in the 40's then back in the 80's craziness. Well it has been messing with my lips big time. I had some supposedly hydrating lip stick or something at work. It sucked. I found myself longing for my giant tub of Aquaphor that was sitting at home. I solved this problem that day after work and bought myself some of the tubs of it and will never be sans Aquaphor again. I will also be getting rid of all of the less than stellar chapsticks I have around. That's all, go out and buy yourself some Aquaphor. You won't regret it. When my skin is especially dry I like to put it on dry spots on my face or all the way around my lips before I go to sleep. Now there is a perk of being single. No one to judge my greasy Aquaphor covered face. I know there is a man out there that will love that look one day!

New Hobby

I have a new hobby. It's called entering contests to win things on blogs. It's simple you see. Lot's of the blogs I read seem to do giveaways, thus I am going to try to win myself something. I figure the more I enter, the better my chances of winning are. I will let you know when I actually win something, though I think you will probably hear me shrieking with delight and won't even need to read a blog. Anyone ever won anything?

Y'all been watching Glee? I got caught up the other day and I had a post all ready to go a while back on this very topic but I am so glad I waited. I am loving Coach Beiste this season. Her involvement with the musical and then last night, she got a romantic interest and I was even more excited. She brings so new blood into the series. I mean she was around before but now she is playing a bigger role and I couldn't be happier. More Coach Beiste!!

Expensive Taste

Ugh, why do I have such expensive taste?I love this Kendra Scott necklace

but at close to $300 it sadly won't be mine. I also adore these earrings. I mean the drops are removable so really it's 2 earrings for the price of one.

At $330 they are also a bit out of my range. I found them by going thru another blog to the the main page and I have no idea what Taigan is but they had lots of cute jewelry that I need feel I must have.

Door Mats

I have never had a door mat. For the most part I find them to be rather dull and just not very useful. While snooping around the blog world I saw this image and thought man that is cool. I wonder what it is. Y'all, it's a door mat.

This is a door mat I can get behind. It comes in a ton of colors and I think it's the nautical looking rope on it that make me love it so much. Sure at $249 it ain't cheap but I feel like it would be well worth the investment. One day I will have this door mat. I hope by the time I save up my pennies they will still be selling them.

Vampire Diaries

While I lounged off my Saturday of bad decisions on Sunday I got caught up on Vampire Dairies.

I know you are thinking, really Taylor, another CW show. Yes, my 28 year old self is helping keep that channel on the air single handily. I had this whole season taped thus far and hadn't watched any episodes yet. I love a good marathon day of a series and watched about 3 or 4 episodes. Something I was struck by was that thus far in the season they haven't been in school yet. I thought they were all in high school so I am a bit confused as to why no one is in school and why this doesn't seem to be an issue. Just something I was wondering. I don't think it's the summer but I could be wrong. I will provide an update if they go back to school and I just missed the part where this was summer vacation.

Also, if you don't watch this show, you should. So guiltily good.

Feeling like a grownup

Does anyone else feel like a grown up when they pay their bills? I know this sounds silly since at this point I am knocking on 30's door but there is something that makes me feel very old and responsible when I pay my bills. I just wish I didn't feel so broke afterwards.

I was catching up on my celeb gossip this AM and ran across an article on People.com about Jennifer Lopez playing Carmen Sandiego. Just because Jlo wears big hats like Carmen did doesn't mean she is the best choice. I grew up loving Carmen Sandiego and various other PBS programs. Ghostwriter anyone?? I digress. I just don't see Jlo as Ms. Sandiego. In the article they mention Sandra Bullock was in talks to play her in the early 90's and I am not sure I see that either. Then I googled Carmen Sandiego images and found this one of Sandra and was convinced she was the right choice. Produce away on the movie Jlo, just please don't star in it.

Top Chef Texas

Top Chef came to Texas and my boy Tommy C. was on fire. Kicking off a 22 year old d-bag within the first 15 mins of the show who couldn't butcher meat. More Tommy C. Please! I am sure he would love to know I call him Tommy C too. I think this season is going to prove to be amazing. I am sure part of it is because being from Texas it will be exciting to see where all they go. Plus, Tommy C. in his Texas gear, sign me up!

Birthday

I have always enjoyed birthdays. Some say I really just

enjoy mine but I like celebrating all of my friends birthdays and am always sad when I make a new friend and

they tell me they aren't really a birthday person. I don't even know how to believe that. My birthday is on New Year's Eve

so everyone all over the world spends the day celebrating my birth. The universe is such a

kind place. Every year I spent a decent amount of time looking

for the perfect dress. It's always a dress though I think one year I wore a t-shirt I made.

I have started looking for my dress this year and think I have come across a winner. Mind you I have not tried this on in person so not sure how the

color will be on me but I am pretty pumped up about it.

Yes, I was hooked on the latest holiday jam Mistletoe and will be purchasing his new holiday album. It will surely be on repeat this holiday season like my Glee Christmas last year. That was the best surprise gift from the BFF! Michael Buble also has a holiday album coming on that I am considering.

Tennis

I am starting tennis lessons on Wednesday and am pretty pumped up about it. My friend MT and I had been playing tennis a bit and I realized I didn't retain any of the knowledge from my 4th grade tennis lessons. Almost as important as the racket and the form is the outfit. Lots of tennis outfits are white, but is it ok to wear them after labor day or does that not apply to tennis outfits. I don't want to make a fashion faux pas on my first day because it will set the stage for all lessons to come.

I am excited about my future career because of the cute new outfits out there. Just what I need a hobby that involves shopping for clothes. So what's the word. Is it ok to wear white for tennis after labor day?

Black on black

I saw this manicure on a blog and couldn't help but love it. I have not been a fan of the french manicure for a long time but this is like a new updated version. It's the same color on top of each other but one is matte and the other shiny. I have the matte OPI Lincoln Park After Dark and the regular and just might have to get this next time I get my nails did.

Lipstick Primer

A week or so ago I was reading my friend Jenn's blog. She mentioned using lipstick primer. I have never used lipstick primer but immediately gathered it was something I needed. My love of a bright lip mean that I am constantly reapplying color to keep it on. I didn't have time to hit up MAC to try her fave brand but I was close to a Sephora so I purchased Too Faced brand's lip primer. So far I am a big fan of it and I wore it to her wedding and felt like I didn't have to reapply my lipstick as much as I have in the past. If you are a bright lipstick wearer I highly recommend it.

Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner and pressure was high for me to top last year's Banana costume. I won sexist costume which was a givenwith yellow face paint. I have thought long and hard aboutwhat I was going to dress up as and came across something grand. Something that wouldrequire face paint again. Ladies and gents, this year I am going to be (drum roll please) a LittleTrees Car Air Freshener. I am hoping to win sexist costume again and think the green face paint might be just what I need to make it happen. Wish me luck!
