To text or not to text, that is the question

Today I provide you with this very important topic/public service announcement. Gents, which I think there are all of 2 of you reading and 1 is married, so pass this information along to your friends. Gents, when meeting a lady you might consider taking out, don’t text her the first time, call her. Calling means you have balls and texting, well not so much. I harp on this now as having being the recipient of this behavior recently.

I met a perfectly nice man on 4th of July. He took my number, let me clarify, memorized my number because we both didn’t have our phones on us. The effort of memorizing was impressive when I got a text the next day saying it was nice to meet me. Well that is pretty much all that happened. He would text me about once a week and say how he hoped my week went well and that we should do something soon. I kept saying week was good, yes we should get together just let me know when. Long story short, it is over a month and a half later and we never went out. Why text me once a week to just check in and never ask to do anything? We are not friends therefore why do you want to check in. Not to mention they were never texts of substance. I made it more than clear that I was willing to see him again but he never asked me.

I think I realized why he was 12 yrs older than me and still single. Yes that is mean and so is this next thing I will say. Shouldn’t a man of his generation be more inclined to call someone then text someone since a larger portion of their life that form of communication was the one available. I know that was mean but I was just making my point. I am over the whole situation and if given the option to go out now, I would politely decline. The ship has sailed my friend and I am not on your boat, no matter how much I love the nautical life!

  1. What if the female sends a text to the male the next morning?

Some females prefer to text instead of call.

I especially liked and I quote, "Shouldn’t a man of his generation be more inclined to call someone then text someone since a larger portion of their life that form of communication was the one available." You're so right!
